Virginia Ballet Company and School, Inc. Virginia Ballet Company and School offers pre-professional training through a variety of weekly classes and id dedicated to the continued improvement and enhancement of classical ballet techniques.

Dress Code

Virginia Ballet Company and School does specify a dress code for all classes and rehearsals located at our school. It is the parents’ and or students’ responsibility to acquire the appropriate attire necessary for individual classes. While there are various styles of leotards available for students to purchase, many are not appropriate for ballet class. For this reason we have revised our dress code to reflect the leotard styles that are acceptable for wear at Virginia Ballet Company and School. These leotard colors and styles are available at local dance supply stores in our area and online.

Students are not permitted to wear oversized items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, large earrings, etc. Teachers may ask students entering class with oversized items on to remove the item.

Cold Weather Attire
During cold weather months students are permitted and should bring a sweater, sweatshirt, and a pair of leg warmers with them to the studio. This is especially important when students are at the studio for rehearsals or have time in between classes. Students may wear these items after class to keep their muscles warm. It is at the teacher’s discretion to allow students to wear warm-up clothing during actual instruction time. Teachers may ask students entering class with warm-up items on to remove the item.

Required Undergarments for Students
All students are required to wear the proper undergarments (dance trunks, dance bras or camisole leotards, dance belts) with the appropriate clothing designated for the enrolled class.

All students age nine and older are required to apply deodorant. 

Students will be dismissed from the classroom if not dressed in the appropriate attire!

* Students at the Advanced and Intermediate IV and III levels ONLY are permitted to wear a colored leotard the last week of every month. Colored leotards should be of an appropriate style. This is the ONLY week students at the Intermediate IV & III levels will be allowed to wear a halter leotard.
Warm-ups

White, Off-White, Light Pastel, Dark Blue, or Black Sweater (wrap ballet sweaters), sweatshirt, or sweatpants, legwarmers, pull-over ballet tops, or pull-over ballet pants, Virginia Ballet Company and professional dance company apparel is allowed.

Items with rude or vulgar words, phrases, or sayings are not permitted! Students will be asked to remove these items at teacher’s discretion.
Undergarments
